Special abilities are defined abilities that creatures can have in common. They are generically labeled on a card, since the definition is known. Creatures can also have unique abilities that require unique definitions.
Special abilities in Magic the Gathering Tactics work differently than in the traditional card game.
This gives creatures and spells a different power level than in the traditional card game.

Special ability list
A figure with charge moves to attack a target enemy in line of sight on a path unblocked by terrain, figures, or zones of control.
- If a figure uses charge, its turn is ended with the charge.
A cloaked figure is invisible to opposing players. When a cloaked figure attacks, or is affected by a spell, or an opposing figure tries to move into its space, it uncloaks.
- A figure with cloak must end its turn to become cloaked.
A figure with deathtouch destroys each creature it counterattacks.
Whenever a figure with fear makes a melee attack against an enemy, the enemy can't counterattack.
A figure with first strike counterattacks before an enemy attack.
A figure with flash can be summoned at any time an instant can be cast.
A figure with flying can't be melee attacked except by figures with flying or reach and can move over obstacles.
- Figures with flying ignore zones of control from figures which can't melee attack them.
When a figure with haste is summoned, it's inserted as the next figure on the initiative bar.
A figure with indestructible can't be destroyed by damage or effects that say "destroy".
When a figure with legendary is summoned, if another figure with the same name is already on the battlefield, both are destroyed.
Damage dealt by a figure with lifelink also causes its controller's Planeswalker to gain that much health.
Protection from any sourceEdit
A figure with protection from a source can't be targeted, attacked, counterattacked, damaged, or enchanted by anything of that source.
- Ex. Protection from black versus abilities and spells from a black source.
A figure with reach can attack figures with flying.
When a figure with regenerate would be destroyed, it's fully healed instead if the regeneration cost can be paid.
- If the regeneration cost is mana then it's automatically paid if available.
The first time each turn a figure with trample destroys an enemy figure with a melee attack, its strength is reduced by the damage needed to destroy the enemy until the end of the turn. Then it gets another move/attack.
A figure with unblockable ignores zones of control while moving.
A figure with vigilance counterattacks against every attack.
